Homeless Student Resources in Dayton ISD
The definition of a homeless student, under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act of 1987 is individuals who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nightime residence.
The McKinney-Vento Act addresses the educational challenges created by homelessness and guarantees homeless students the right to enroll, attend and have every opportunity to succeed in school. Students who are identified as homeless in Dayton ISD qualify for free breakfast and free lunch.
